Mr. Gass is located in Ridge Farm, being a member of the civil engineering corp of the Big Four with headquarters in that city."

Ray Gass, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Gass of this city, was Wednesday, united in marriage to Miss Edith Beringer of Ridge Farm, Ill., in that city. Miss Alma Gass of this city, a sister to the groom, attended the wedding. The bride is one of the prettiest and most accomplished young women of Ridge Farm, and is a talented musician besides, being a leader in the social set in which she moved.

The groom is a popular young man of this city and now has a responsible position as civil engineer with the Big Four railroad with headquarters at Ridge Farm.

The Democrat extends congratulations to the happy pair."

Howard was in Cottlesville, MO when he died at 12:45 a.m. on Feb. 13, 1935, from apparent heart related problems. He had lived 52 years and 19 days. His obituary was published in the Jefferson City Post Tribune on Wednesday, February 13, 1935.

St. Louis, Feb. 13 - (AP) -
Howard R. Gass, 52, vice-president and director of the St. Louis Car Company, died of heart disease today.

Formerly the valuation engineer for the Missouri Public Service Commission, he had been associated with the company for sixteen years. He was the son of the late Howard A. Gass, one-time superintendent of schools.

He is survived by his widow and a son.

Howard Ray Gass was well-known in Jefferson City where he grew to manhood. He came here from Vandalia in Audrain county with his parents when 5 years old. His father had succeeded W.T. Carrington as chief clerk to State School Superintendent Coleman in 1884. He was educated in the Jefferson City public schools and Missouri University.

Word to relatives here today was to the effect that Mr. Gas had complained of feeling slightly ill early last evening. He told Mrs. Gass later in the night that he felt better and intended to read for several hours before retiring. About 1 a.m. Mrs. Gass was awakened when she heard him fall. He was dead when she reached him.

The Gass family was one of the most prominent and best known in this part of the state. Mr. Gass was appointed chief clerk when W.T. Carrington became superintendent of schools and later succeeded Mr. Carrington as head of the department.

Ray Gass was with the State Public Service Commission for several years before becoming an official in the St. Louis car company.

Friend here were advised that the fune4al would take place in St. Louis at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon."
