Alex ALLERDICE Killed In Freak Farm Accident

Alex ALLERDICE, Lockridge Township farmer, was instantly killed in a freak accident on the family farm about 8:45 a.m. today.

Reports said he was knocked down by a calf in the barn, and as he fell he struck his chin on a floor plate at the edge of the stall. His neck was broken as his head snapped.

An ambulance was called and the accident victim was rushed to the Jefferson County Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Dr. C.F. Watson, county medical examiner, said ALLERDICE died of a broken neck.

The ALLERDICE farm is located about two miles east of Salina on the county backtop road.

Alex T. ALLERDICE, 71, was born Jan. 3, 1902, in Jefferson County, the son Malcolm and Lulabelle MICKEY ALLERDICE.

He was married Feb. 23, 1927, to Violet ENGWALL who survives.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, James, Fairfield; one daughter, Mrs. Doris HARDER, Newhall; and eight grandchildren.

He is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Ella LIBLIN, Lockridge; Mrs. Mae HILLMAN, Burlington; and Mrs. Virginia CUDDEBACK, Davenport. He was preceded in death by one daughter.

Last rites will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Lockridge Lutheran Church where he was a member. The Rev. Linwood Monte will officiate and burial will be in the New Sweden Lutheran Cemetery.

The body is at the Weston Behner Funeral Home.
