Silas D. Hedges Aug. 6, 1922; Oregonian, p 7 Obituary --- Silas D. Hedges Funeral services for Silas D. Hedges, Oregon pioneer of 1851, who died Wednesday at the Tillamook hospital, will be held today at that city. Mr. Hedges was born at McConnellsville, O., in 1847, and at the age of 4 years crossed the plains with his parents, who located near Tualatin. Mr. Hedges lived in the Sherwood district for a number of years, then moved to Sandy, Or. His health failing, he left for California, where he resided until four years ago, when he returned to Oregon. Two weeks ago he was stricken with apoplexy which caused his death. Mr. Hedges is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Nettie Riggs, Mrs. Claudia Simmons and Mrs. Grace Hudson, all of Tillamook; one son, Silas G. Hedges of Arizona, and a brother, John E. Hedges of Sherwood.
