James C. Collard, age 61, of 4517 Laurie Lane, Two Rivers, died peacefully Friday night, Sept. 26, 2003, at River’s Bend, Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc, with his family at his side, following a courageous battle with
cancer.

Funeral Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic parish, Holy Redeemer Site, Two Rivers. Officiating at the mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Wm. G. O’Brien, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Jim was born Jan. 16, 1942, in Green Bay, son of the late Clifford and Mary (Hebel) Collard. He attended schools in Denmark, graduating with the class of 1960 from Denmark High School. He furthered his education at MSOE in Milwaukee, and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering. On July 27, 1963, he married Donna Swantek in the town of Eaton. Together the couple owned and operated the Cedar Lodge in Two Rivers, from 1980 to 1989. He was employed with Mirro Aluminum Co. as a design engineer for many years, retiring in 1999. Jim then married Cynthia (Kunesh) Pickard on Aug. 7, 1999, in Two Rivers. He enjoyed doing his yard work, camping, and refinishing antiques. He also volunteered many hours at the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Two Rivers, and worked with meals-on-wheels.

Survivors include his wife: Cynthia Pickard-Collard; one son and daughter-in-law: Scott and Judy Collard, Manitowoc;
three daughters and a son-in-law: Jodie and Jerry Wachowski, Two Rivers; Carrie Kumbalek and fiancé Patrick Dunphy, and Becky Collard and special friend, John Hoffmann, all of Manitowoc; one stepson: Shawn (Andrew) Pickard, Two Rivers; 11 grandchildren: Justin, Allison, Jessica, Gina, Nick (Tara) Wachowski, Michele, Louis, Lucas, Aaron, Paige and Jacob; one great grandson: Devin Wachowski. He is further survived by his former wife: Donna Collard, Two Rivers; his mother-in-law: Lynn Lesperance, Two Rivers; and three brothers-in-law: Michael (Cheryl) Kunesh, Manitowoc; Steven (Patti) Kunesh, North Carolina; and Randall (Lori) Kunesh, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and several aunt and uncles.

Relatives and friends may call at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic parish, Holy Redeemer Site, Two Rivers after 11 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of mass at noon. There will be no Monday evening visitation.
