Louis A. “Sonny” Loiacono, of Peabody, died Saturday at his home in the company of his loving family. He was 69. Mr. Loiacono was born and raised in Medford. He served in the US Army after high school and then embarked on a 40 year career working on Boston’s waterfront. Louis retired as President of Welding and Engineering Company of Boston. He was a member of the East Boston Chamber of Commerce and past member of the East Boston Kiwanas. A horse enthusiast, he was a member of the HBPA at Suffolk Downs. Louis lived in several North Shore communities before settling in Peabody 29 years ago. He was an active supporter and contributor to Peabody Youth Sports. He was the beloved husband for 29 years of Patricia (Palkey) and the late Elizabeth (Power). He was a devoted father to Dante Loiacono and his wife Paula of Lynn, Robert Loiacono of East Boston, Gregory Loiacono of Peabody, Shirley Johnston of FL, Valerie Loiacono of Tewksbury, Natalie Tripolitis and her husband George of of Weymouth, Jessica Ryan and her husband Patrick of Peabody and Lisa Loiacono of Peabody. He was a devoted step-father to Daryle D’Appolonio and the late Richard D’Appolonio. He was the cherished son of Ponzi Loiacono of Winthrop and the late Natalie (Moriconi). He was the dear son-in-law of Helen Palkey of Brighton. He was a loving grandfather to 26 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was the nephew of Rino Moriconi of FL. He was the dear brother of Nancy Weymouth of FL, Robert Loiacono of Medford, Susan Masley of Marlboro, George Loiacono of FL, Mary Ann Cadigan of Malden, and Richard Loiacono of Danvers
