Donald W. King, age 82, of 2021 S. Alverno Road, Manitowoc, formerly of 2922 39th St., Two Rivers, died on Wednesday evening, Dec. 8, 2010, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Don was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Elmhurst, Ill., son of the late Smith G. and Gertrude May (Smith) King, Jr. He graduated from Sullivan High School in Chicago, Ill. Don entered the U.S. Coast Guard and was stationed in Two Rivers from 1946-1949. On April 15, 1950, he married the former Bernice Lintereur at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. She preceded him in death on June 30, 1996. Don was first employed for two years with Hamilton Mfg. and then with the city of Two Rivers as a Filtration Plant Operator, retiring in 1990 after 38 years of service. He volunteered and was a member of the Washington House in Two Rivers for 19 years. Don enjoyed life and had many hobbies, interests and was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan. Most of all, he enjoyed being with family and friends.

In addition to his wife Bernice, Don was preceded in death by three brothers: Lyman, Burt, and Robert King; and sisters and brothers-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m, Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial to follow the service at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home from 12 noon until the time of service at 2 p.m.

Memorials may be made in Don's name to the Washington House, 1622 Jefferson Street, Two Rivers, WI 54241.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to (private); the nurses at the Cancer Care Center, CCU nurses, 5th floor nurses at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center, Holy Family Memorial Home Health Care, and the Two Rivers Senior Center Meals on Wheels staff and volunteers.
