After 104 orbits around the sun, Gary Schroeder peacefully passed away at home on Monday June 1, 2015.

Gary was born in Two Rivers on May 20, 1911, a son of the late Joseph S. and Isabella A. (Wolf) Schroeder. He attended St. Luke's Catholic Grade School, and graduated from Washington High School, Two Rivers. He then furthered his education at St. Norbert's College, DePere. On April 17, 1937, he married Bernice (Connie) Conway at St. Elizabeth's Hospital Chapel in Appleton. Connie preceded him in death on April 29, 1998. Gary worked at the family owned - Schroeder's Department Store from the age of 12 until the age of 90, and never missed a day of work. He became the manager of the Men's Shoe Department until his retirement. He also served on the board of directors, vice-president and president of Schroeder's Department Store over the many years. He will be remembered for working six days a week, but always taking time for family on Sundays, and time for family vacations. Gary was also past president of the Jaycees, and was instrumental in establishing Maxwell Street Days (Sidewalk Sale Days) in downtown Two Rivers. Gary joined the Knights of Columbus at the age of 25 and was awarded a plaque for being a member for 75 years when he turned 100 from the local Knights of Columbus Council.

Survivors include his six children: Peter and Lorraine Schroeder, Two Rivers, Mike and Mary Schroeder, Rock Hall, Maryland, Jim and Lynn Schroeder, Two Rivers, Sister Mary Lou Schroeder, Fond du Lac, Gregg and Mary Schroeder, Savannah, GA, and Julie Schroeder, Two Rivers; his special grandchildren: David (Jessica), Mark (Danielle), Patrick (Leslie), Chris (Chrissy), Megan (Jay), Gretchen (Nigel), Matt & special friend, Lynda, Dan (Julie), Mark (Kelly), Amanda (Bryan), Theresa (Nathan), Elizabeth & special friend, Stephen, Ryan (Nadia), Neal, Leah, Greg & special friend, Marshall; his great grandchildren include: Julia, Kate, Sam, Sophia, Zella, Noah, Emma, Luke, Lincoln, Abi, Rocco, Alex, Cienna, Erin, Nate, Caroline, Connor, Norah, Sammy, Maddie, Clara; and one great great grandson, Jerome. He is further survived by one sister, Catherine Doleschal, Madison; sister-in-law, Barb (Larry) Wachs, Crivitz; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to his parents and his wife, Connie, he was preceded in death by his son, John Schroeder; four brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd. Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Tom Reynebeau, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. There will be no Friday evening visitation held.
