Samuel "Sammy" C.M. Drury II, 59, a resident of Kennedyville, Md., died Sunday in the Maryland University Medical Center in Baltimore, Md.

Sammy was a native of Brunswick, but was raised in Brantley County and was a graduate of Brantley County High School. He was employed with Bonnie Plant Farm in the Crop Protection.

Sammy was a member of the Still Pond Methodist Church in Maryland, where he played the piano and organ as needed. Sammy had entertained on the piano around the local area since the age of 3. Sammy never met anyone who he did not want to befriend.

Sammy was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Crosby Drury and father, James Marvin Drury Sr.; and a sister, Brenda Drury; and James F. and Louise Drury Jones, who raised Sammy after leaving the Georgia Baptist Children's Home.

Survivors are two sons, Brad Drury and Brian Drury (Hollye); two grandchildren, Taylor and Briley Drury; two brothers, James Marvin Drury Jr. and David Mitchell Drury Sr.; a sister, Cindy Drury; and a host of nieces and nephews; and Lynn Sommerall, cousins/sister, Jimbo Jones cousin/brother and Stanley Drury, cousin/brother; and several aunts and uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, in the Waynesville Baptist Church in Waynesville, Ga., with the Rev. Randy Bush and the Rev. Will Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in Emanuel United Methodist Churchyard.

Active pallbearers will be Adrian James Drury, Anibal Iturbe Diaz, Barton Corbett Leatherwood, David Mitchell Drury Jr., Ben Crosby, Jeremy Jones, Don Drury and Mark Drury. Honorary pallbearers will be Alfred Crosby, Doug Church, Jimbo Jones, Clinton Sweat, Terry Thompson, Stanley Drury, Jesse Drury and the Brantley County High School class of 1973.

The family will receive friends in the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home on Thursday, May 29, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.
