Wilson rites set in Batavia
WILIAMSBURG, VA. - The funeral service for Batavia native Alberta Lorraine Gorman LaPoint Wilson will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Home in Batavia with the Rev. Mary Ann Bernard officiating.
Wilson, 81, of Williamsburg, Va., died Sunday at Williamsburg Community Hospital. She had been a resident of Williamsburg for 33 years. She retired in 1972 after 16 years as secretary to the dean of women at the Colege of William and Mary in Williamsburg.
She was born Dec. 29, 1905, the daughter of Samuel and Bessie Walker Gordon (sic. Gorman). Wilson was a member of the Batavia United Methodist Church, Circle No. 1 of the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, the Senior Citizen Bowling Group of Williamsburg and Arbor Vitae Chapter 327 Order of the Eastern Star in Batavia.
She attended Parsons College, the Iowa Success Business College in Ottumwa and the Burlington College of Commerce.
She is survived by a sister Virginia Roseburg of Williamsburg, Va., and a brother James Gorman of Seattle. Her late Husband was E.W. LaPoint.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Friday until the funeral service. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Williamsburg Community Hospital.
