He was Educated at Northallerton Grammar School
[ Battle of Britain Historical Society Memorial Plaque presented to Northalleron College by the Rt Hon William Hague MP ]

Kirk joined 608 Squadron as an Aircraft hand in June 1939 and later remustered as Airman u/t Pilot
He joined 74 Squadron on Aug 26th 1940 and claimed a Bf110 on Sept 11.

He was shot down over Maidstone Kent on Oct 20th, baled out but badly wounded and admitted to Preston Hall Hospital.He died of wounds on the 22nd aged 22.

His Spitfire P 7370 crashed at Coxheath.
