Funeral services for John T. Davis, 88, of Oakland Star Route, were held at the White Oak Pond Church at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 20, with Rev. J. F. Fike and Rev. Theron McCloud officiating. Mr. Davis died at his home on July 17, following an illness of about two weeks.
Music was furnished by the church choir with Mrs. Kenneth Viele as organist. The songs included "Not Made With Hands" and "Beyond the Sunset."
Interment was in the church cemetery with the Palmer Funeral Home in charge. Escorts were John O'Dell, Dick O'Dell, Guy Coffman, James Scurlock, Jack O'Dell, and. Harold Coffman.
John T. Davis, son of Rev. Joseph. Davis and Margaret J. Peters Davis, was born March 21,1873 in Webster County.
On December 24, 1896, he was united in marriage, to Artie Coffman who preceded him in death April 1, 1960. To this union was bom three children, a son, Hershel, who died at an early age, and two daughters.
He was converted about 65 years ago and united with the White Oak Pond Church, where he remained a faithful member until death.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lillian O'Dell and Mrs. Leone Bynon, both of Plato Star Route; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Lorance, of Lebanon, and Mrs. Thelma Allen, Springfield, and many nieces and nephews
