He was a veteran of WWII serving with the 36th Medical Hospital Ship Platoon in Europe and Africa for 39 months. He moved to Rock County in 1950 and farmed.

Lyle Coon, 56, Died Saturday at Janesville, Wisconsin Hospital. Lyle Coon, 56, former Clarksville resident and son of Mrs. Beancy Coon of this community, died saturday at a hospital in Janesville, Wisconsin, of emphysema complicated by the flu. The son of Bert and Beancy (Walsh) Coon was born July 20, 1911 near Clarksville. The family moved to Faribault, Minnesota in 1920 where Lyle attended the Bedford school and the academy at Owatonna. He was a veteran of World War II. Lyle married Joyce Flynn March 6, 1944 at Metuchan, New Jersey. Following his release from the service. They lived in Rockford, Illinois and later moved to Janesville. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, April and Lisa; two brothers, Wayne and Milton, both of Janesville; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Wheeler of Minneapolis; and his mother, Mrs. Beancy Coon of Clarksville. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother Verne. Funeral and burial services were held in Janesville, Tuesday.(NOTE: Per Lyle's widow, it was orginally thought that he died of emphysema and the flu, but Dr. Peters asked for permission for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death. After getting the results, he told her that Lyle had Rheumatic fever as a child and it had not been diagonised. Therefore he had not been confined to bed and his chest was full of adhesions. Those adhesions were a major contributing factor to his death. Joyce's real first name is Lillian and her maiden name was Busker not Flynn.) The Clarksville Star -- January 9, 1969.
