Memorial services were April 6 at the Baker Funeral Home, Danville, for Olaf (Ollie) H. Ellis, age 77, Danville, who died April 2 in the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Entombment was in the Lincoln Memory Gardens at Whitestown. Rev. Kelly Ingersoll officiated.
Born Oct. 8, 1917 in Windsor, Illinois, he was a son of Harvey and Ferida (Bohling) Ellis. He graduated from Danville High School in 1936, and then from Indiana State Teachers College, Terre Haute. He married Mary E. Pierpont on Jan. 8, 1947 in Covington, Kentucky. She survives.
Mr. Ellis was an educator for 30 years teaching social studies in the Pittsboro High School and Danville Community Schools, retiring in 1980. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Ellis was a member of the Danville Christian Church.
Survivors in addition to his widow are a son, Charles D. Ellis of Pennsylvania; a daughter, Susan Uhls of Kentucky; a sister, Margaret Rodney of Danville, and four grandchildren.
