Francis P. LaPlante Jr., age 63, a Manitowoc resident, died Sunday, June 1, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born on January 21, 1951 in Gouverneur, NY, son of the late Francis P. & Leona G. (Peck) LaPlante Sr. Frank was a graduate of Harrisville Central High School in New York and was a Veteran of the United States Navy for 13 years. On December 19, 1992 he married the former Susan Schoepke in Manitowoc. Frank was a dedicated employee for over 30 years as a 1st Lieutenant for Security at Kewaunee Nuclear Plant. He loved his family, golfing and his animals.

Survivors include his wife: Susan LaPlante, Manitowoc; his five children and their spouses: Bridget LaPlante, Francis C. (Dawn) LaPlante, Linn (Eric) Coutermarsh, Christopher Hill, Lucas Hill, all of Manitowoc; six grandchildren: Shaylene Morris, Lucas, Devin and Skye LaPlante, Chelsy and Morgan Coutermarsh; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Pat (Judy) LaPlante, Manitowoc, Robert LaPlante, Arkansas; and a sister: Bonnie Norton, New York. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Military Rites will be accorded by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731 with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014. Friends may also call Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
