Mrs. Bessie M. Bishop, 71, a former resident of the Natural Dam area died Thursday afternoon at the home of a step-daughter, Mrs. William Clabaugh, E. Berlin R 1, after an illness of 18 months.

A native of Adams county, she was a daughter of the late James and Sarah Jane (Reeves) Bishop and had resided in Adams county all of her life. She was a member of the Fairfield United Church of Christ. Her husband, the late Charles L. Bishop, died in February 1956 (correct date is 1957).

Surviving are these stepchildren: Mrs. H. W. Parker, Lynchburg, Va.; Mrs. William Clabaugh, East Berlin R.D., with whom she resided; Mrs. Paul Landis, Carlisle. Also surviving are 11 step-grandchldren; 7 step-grandchildren (writer's note: this seems to be an error); 7 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother, Miss Ada Bishop, Fairfield, R. 2; Francis Bishop, Gettysburg, R. 2; and Miss Flora Bishop, Gettysburg, R.2.

Funeral services Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bender Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Myers and the Rev. G. Howard Koons officiating. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery, Emmitsburg. Friends may visit the funeral home Sunday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.
