Ervine Dale Baumgardner, 75, Blue Springs, Mo., passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, near Lake Ozark, MO., as the result of an automobile accident. Dale was born on July 26, 1929, in Grain Valley, MO., son of Byrl and Ona Stephenson Baumgardner. He graduated from Grain Valley High School in 1947. Dale, 20, married Rose Marie Schoonover, 19 on April 23, 1950 in Jackson County, MO. Jackson County, Missouri marriage certificate #1950I0032229. In 1948, Dale joined the Naval Air Force Reserves. He was activated in 1951 during the Korean War, serving stateside for two years in Alameda, Calif. after the service, he attended Kansas City Technical Trade school. He became a broadcast engineer and worked with WDAF-TV for 19 years. Dale served as mayor of Blue Springs from 1970 to 1979, and was Jackson County Executive from 1979 to 1982, and numerous other public positions. His business interests included Lake Investment Inc., near Lake Ozark, MO. His survivors include his wife of 54 years, Rose M. Baumgardner;a son and daughter in law, Leslie and Peggy, a daughter, Terri Baumgardner, and two grand children, Ryan and Megan Baumgardner, all of Blue Springs; a sister, Erma Doty of Grain Valley; a sister in law and brother in law, Julia and Jerry Cline of Oak Grove, MO; and many relatives and numerous friends. Funeral services will be 2pm Thursday, Dec. 30,at the First United Methodist Church in Blue Springs. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8pm Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association, The American Cancer Society, or the University of Missouri Veterinarian Cancer Center.
