Madolyn Baldwin, 92, of Vienna, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 1999 at Vienna. She was born Oct. 9, 1907, near Vienna, a daughter of Charles Marvin and Lucy Terry Henderson.

Mrs. Baldwin was preceded in death by her father in 1943; her mother in 1969; a brother, Francis Loyal (Buddy) in 1951; brother Clyde in 1983; and her husband, Carl in 1987.

Madolyn was a teacher in the rural schools of Maries County from her graduation in 1925 until her marriage in 1930 to Carl A. Baldwin. She taught two terms at Terry School, three terms at Hughes Chapel, and one term at Pleasant Ridge. She managed the Maries Hotel for a time and for 10 years, was Editor of the Maries County Gazette, which they bought from Beauford Colley and later sold to The Belle
Banner. Madolyn was also postmistress of Vienna the three years Carl was away in the Army.

Madolyn, along with Cecil and Juanita Hutchison, Paul Hollenbeck and Tom Coffey, were founders of the Old Jail Museum in Vienna. She, along with her mother, Lucy Hendrson, were active members of the Maries County Historical Society and the Garden Club.

Carl and Madolyn were "special grandparents" to five nieces and nephews: Howard Henderson, Helen Tipton, Lucille Young, Clyde Henderson, Jr., and Bill Baldwin. Also surviving are grand-nieces and nephews: Sue Wenger, Terry Snodgrass, Loyal Henderson, Patricia Wombwell, Carl Hendrson, Charles Henderson, Gail Fritz, Linda Cole, Brenda Swyers, Wayne Henderson, Lisa Meyers, Lance Tipton,
Randall Young, Joan Young and Janice Young, and many great-grand-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999 at Kordes Funeral Home in Vienna with Rev. Karen Alden officiating. Burial was in the Vienna Public Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Vienna Public Cemetery. Cards are available at Kordes Funeral Home in Vienna.
