He passed away at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria on June 22, 1970 at the age of 81 years. Surviving are his wife, Anna; one son, Milton Gaulke of Alexandria; three brothers and one sister: Otto Gaulke of Steward, Minn., Frank Gaulke of Glencoe, Minensota, Edward Gaulke of Winthrop, Minnesota and Mrs. Laura Eitel of Chaska, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Funeral services were held June 25, 1970 from the Zion Lutheran Church, Alexandria with the Rev. K. K. Hill officiating. Interment was made at the Evergreen Cemetery, Alexandria. Pallbearers were Wallace Anderson, Leonard Anderson, Clarence Rambow, Oliver Olson, Willie Auran, and Elmer Hahn.
