Funeral services were held at Faith Lutheran Church, Tuesday, March 5, for Howard Alvin Clingman, who died of a stroke at his home Saturday, March 2. The Rev. Frank Johnson officiated at services. Mr. Clingman who was a farmer most of his life suffered a stroke in 1961 and been in poor health since. He was born on September 24, 1898, at Cazenovia, Illinois, the only son of Clarence and Helena Clingman. He attended school in Cazenovia and in April, 1917, joined the U.S. Navy where he served as a seaman on the battleship USS Wyoming until 1919. On December 13, 1924, he married Berta E. Strus in Charles City, Iowa. They moved to Minnesota in 1926. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Mabel North and Pearl Bonsall. He is survived by his widow, Bertha, and one daughter. Pallbearers at the funeral services were Mr. Clingman's nephews. Interment was at the Scandinavian Cemetery, Forest Lake.
