Shawnee resident Jack H. Gettle, 76, died Thursday, Jan. 19, at his home.
He was born April 27, 1929, in Ventura, Calif., to Ocay and Iva Cecile (Shafer) Gettle.

Gettle has lived in Shawnee since 1960.

On Nov. 5, 1960, he married Georgia Lea Hildebrand in Bentonville, Ark.

He served with the U.S. Army from Jan. 29, 1951, to Oct. 30, 1956.

Gettle worked in construction as a foreman for United Builders.

He was a member of Aydelotte Baptist Church, Masons and a charter member of the Shawnee Bass Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia, of the home; three sons, Joe Murray Gettle of Springfield, Mo., Tracy Odell Gettle and Mike Louis Gettle, both of Shawnee; three granddaughters, Melinda Marie Gettle of Madill, Leslie Anne Gettle and Molly Lynne Gettle, both of Shawnee; grandson, Jeff Thomas of Springfield; one great-granddaughter; four sisters, Jean Elizabeth Litke of Midwest City, Sue Carol Gettle of Oklahoma City, Mary Alice Gettle of Del City, Ann Evelyn Holmes of Beaumont, Texas; brother, Paul Murray Gettle of Del City; a number nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Holmes officiating. Walker Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
