Arthur Larson, age 92, of Osakis, Minnesota, passed away April 22, 1988, at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
Arthur Ttheodore Larson was born April 7, 1896, near Long Prairie, Minnesota to Asmund and Theo (Johnson) Larson. On February 1, 1922, Art was united in marriage to Orpha Whitesell in Long Prairie, Minnesota. He attended St. Cloud Business College, lived for a few years in Minneapolis before returning to the Osakis area where he bought a farm seven miles south of Osakis in 1930. Art was active as a school board member for Rural District 67 and also in the Farmers Union. He was a member of the Osakis Lutheran Church. Art loved the out-of-doors, and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is well remembered by family and friends for his talents on the fiddle. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his children, Mrs. Norman (Irene) Myhro of Minnetonka, MN; Dr. Arthur Larson of Elkhart, IN: Dr. Ted Larson of Sartell, MN; Dr. Dean Larson of Mombasa, Kenya, East Africa; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one brother Viggo Larson of Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Orpha who died in 1980, his parents, one great grandson, Colin Kimball; two sisters, Mabel and Thora Larson; three brothers, Albin, Milo and Hilmer Larson.
Funeral services for Art were held April 25, 1988, at the Osakis Lutheran church with Rev. Steve Hilde officiating. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria, MN. Honorary pallbearers were Sherman Larson, Robert Mostad, Ralph Sjoblom and Steve Maher. Active pallbearers were: John Myhro, John Kapeluck, Kelley Kimball, Philip Larson, Newton Earl Jr., Dr. Eric Larson.
Funeral arrangements were by Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
