Cavanaugh
William F. Cavanaugh, 75, formerly of 414 E. Parkview Ln., Manitowoc, died Saturday at Birchwood Manor Nursing Home, Holland, Mich., where he for being living since May.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Jens Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc, the Rev. E. A. Radey celebrant of the requiem high Mass. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth.

Mr. Cavanaugh was born April 7, 1889, in the Town of Eric, Washington County, Wis., son of the late Daniel and Anna Reilly Cavanaugh. He attended schools at Milwaukee, was graduated from Marquette Academy and attended Marquette University School of Engineering. He married Clare Goetz Oct. 6, 1914, at Milwaukee. She preceded him in death in May, 1964.

Mr. Cavanaugh was on the staff of Milwaukee County Highway Dept. when it was organized in 1911, and in 1919 he became county highway commissioner. He supervised construction of Milwaukee County owned Airports and had a hand in the expansion of Mitchell Field into a multi-million dollar air terminal. He supervised the insitution [sic] of the super-highway system at Milwaukee. Mr. Cavanaugh was chairman of the Milwaukee County Safety Commission from 1935-49, member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Engineers Society of Milwaukee and was a member of both national and state professional engineers registered by the state. He came to Manitowoc in 1956.

Survivors are two children, Mrs. Harry Olstad, of Manitowoc and Dr. Robert Cavanaugh, of Holland, Mich., and five grandchildren. Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock this Monday evening. Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Assn.
