A Wolbach man died in a two-vehicle accident early Saturday morning near St. Paul, Howard County Sheriff Tracy Murphy said.
Richard D. Carson, 64, of Wolbach died when his 1991 Ford Festiva collided with a southbound 1986 Mazda Pickup driven by Robert Peetz, 26, of St. Paul on Highway 281 at 12:45 a.m. Carson, who was accompanied by his wife, Frances, 53, and their two dogs, was ejected from the vehicle.
Mrs. Carson and Peetz were transported to Howard County Hospital and then to St. Francis Medical Center.
Mrs. Carson was in critical condition and Peetz was in serious condition Saturday evening, a nursing supervisor said. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, Murphy said.
