Donna Joy Sessions, 61, a resident of Portland passed away May 12, 2014, at her home. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, in Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Donna was born Aug. 16, 1952, in Portland. She was one of nine children born to Paul and Wilma (Watts) Marquez. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1970. She met her loving husband, David, and they were married July 28, 1973. Following their marriage, they made their home in Portland. Her career began with the Oregon Bank and after 17 years, retired as branch manager. Looking for a change, she attended Portland Community College. A year later, she accepted a position at Portland State University, staying for 21 years when she retired in 2012 as a student employment coordinator. Donna's employment years included 27 years as a tax preparer for Columbia Crest. Donna was a very loving wife, mother and sister. Her greatest joy was the birth of their son and grandchildren. Donna loved to travel, seeing and learning new things. She enjoyed reading and being creative. Her favorite crafts were knitting, crocheting and sewing. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and hearing her grandchildren call her yaya. She will be greatly missed. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Remondo Marquez; and sister, Sandra Marquez. She is survived by her husband, David, of Portland; son, David (Tiffany) Sessions of Beaverton; sisters, Carol Valdivia and Roseann Wade of Vancouver, Judy Calvo of Salem, and Paula Marquez of Portland; brothers, Dale and Gary Marquez of Portland; grandchildren, Dylan and Devin; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by many.
