She was born September 15, 1898 on a farm near Ortonville and spent her entire lifetime in Dallas County with the exception of a short time in her childhood, which was spent in Wyoming.
She was a graduate of Adel High School. She was united in marriage to Glen Dewey (Dude) McAtee on December 24, 1919 and this union was blessed with seven children; Richard, of Leonard, North Dakota; Hazel Waters of Adel; Charles of Grimes; LaVerne, of Cypress, California; Barbara (Mrs. Dean) Harkins, of Van Meter; Dean, of Jefferson and Larry, of Cherokee.
She was active in the Adel Christian Church when her health permitted. She was a member of the Lady Washington Chapter of the Eastern Star, and served as Secretary for several years. She was also a member of Sunbeam Rebekah Lodge, No. 73; the American Legion Auxillary, Pnoach Post, of Adel, serving as president and the Dallas County Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
Surviving, including her children, is one brother Jay Marker, of Des Moines, two sisters, Pearl Royer and Ruth Dooley, both of Adel, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
