Leigh Baugniet

Leigh Baugniet, of Appleton, passed away on Sunday February 11, 2001 after a valiant struggle with cancer.

Funeral Services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Febraury 14, 2001, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, W5831 Highway KK, Darboy. Father Tom Pomeroy will officiate. Friends will be received directly at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 5 p.m. Interment will be on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Leigh, sometimes referred to as Mr. Cozy, will be remembered by family and friends as the barber who turned a hair cut or styling into an event. Customers could count on a lively discussion of current events and enjoy the joke of the day. Leigh was also a handyman and an all around good guy. He was known to be there for anyone who needed help. He attended school in Two Rivers graduating from Washington High School in 1961. He graduated from Barber School at the Green Bay Technical Institute in 1963. He was also a United States Army Drill Sergeant, 2nd BN, 274th Regt, 84th division, from 1967 until 1974. Leigh was a past member of the Appleton Yacht Club, and current member of Harley Owners Group (HOG) and ABATE of Wisconsin (2E Region). He owned and managed Cozy Hair Stylist on College Avenue, Appleton, since 1974. Leigh would like to thank all of his customers and friends who made his life so meaningful! Leigh's motto was "He who dies with the most toys wins", so as he leaves his boat and Harley behind, it is a comfort to know he lived life to the fullest. We must now celebrate his life with memories and always humor.

He is survived by his daughter, his pride and joy, Nicole Baugniet, Overland Park, Kansas; one sister, Lynn Conley, Orlando, Fla.; and a little girl that is very special La Tia Leigh Fink and also her older sister, Kassian Fink. Leigh was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice and Orin Baugniet.

In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society will be appreciated.

The Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton, (920)739-1231, is assisting the family with arrangements.

A special thanks to all of Leigh's friends and Theda Clark second floor medical staff for their help in easing the pain and grief.
