Dale W. Ackerman, age 79, of Council Bluffs, passed away February 25, 2008, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.
He was born November 4, 1928, in Griswold, Iowa, to the late Frank and Clara (Newman) Ackerman. He was a 1946 graduate of Wales Lincoln High School and was
a self employed carpenter.
Dale married Delores J. Schick, on November 25, 1947, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2007.
Survivors include wife, Delores J. Ackerman, Council Bluffs; daughters, Jan Grap and husband Aaron, Underwood, Iowa, Vicki Backus and husband Rory, Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Wendy Davis, Council Bluffs, Joshua Kull, Bakersfield, Calif; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Heather, Thomas, and Jordan Davis, Dillan and Jacob Kull; great-great grandchildren, Riah and Anthony; sister, Jean Davidson, Red Oak, Iowa; brother, Ken Ackerman, Manhattan Beach, Calif.; nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, from 12 o'clock noon to 1 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., with Rev. Michael York officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to Benson Street Church of Christ, Southside Christian Church, or Under-wood Fire and Rescue.
