John M. Wiest, 70, Highland, died Thesday, January 1, 1991 in a Madison nursing home following a long illness. John was born August 14, 1920 in Highland Township to Peter and Anna (Wolfe) Wiest. He was a graduate of Highland High School. He farmed in Highland Township for his entire life. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Highland.
Survivors include two sisters, Catherine (Albert) Weier, Hollandale and Rosalie (Walter) Roelli, Shullsburg; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leo in 1975 and Carl in 1985; and one sister, Frieda Toay in 1979.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 4 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Highland. Fr. Laverne Meier officiated with burial in St. Anthony's Cemetery. A visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, January 3 at the McGuire-Peterson Funeral Home, Highland, where a Parish Rosary was held at 7:30 p.m.
