He retired in 1974 as foreman after working 47 years for Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.

He leaves his wife, the former Mary Bazala, whom he married on April 26, 1937; a son, Richard, of Niles; five brothers: James of Hubbard; Frank of Youngstown; Edward and John Liberty; and William of McDonald; two sisters; and a great-grandchild.
