He received a paralytic stroke last Thursday evening after he had retired. He never allied and was only conscious at times.
Deceased was born in Bern in 1834. In early life he followed the mercantile business, starting with a general store at Stouchsburg. Later, in 1865, he and his brother, George, who survives, formed the present partnership of Leinbach & Bro., in this city. He was always energetic in business and very successful, continuing in the management of the firm up to the time of his sudden affliction. He had a large circle of acquaintances and friends and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. He never took any part in politics, but was very active in church work. He was liberal towards charitable purposes and contributed a great deal in this direction.
Mr. Leinbach was a member of St. Paul's Memorial Reformed Church and an elder for many years. He was a heavy contributor to all the Reformed churches of the city, as well as to both foreign and home missions.
Deceased is survived by these children: Mrs. Mary Scharf, Kansas city, Mo.; Miss Ida Leinbach, at home; Harry A., this city, and Joseph V. R. Leinbach and Miss Edith V. R. Leinbach, residing at home. He leaves these brothers: Elias A., of Bern; Richard A., Robesonia, and George A., of this city.
