Stricken with an apparent heart attack while mowing the lawn at his home in Godfrey Thursday evening, Leslie J. Bull 42, a salesman at Chuck Kiering Ford Sales, Inc., died a short time later.

He was moved by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 5:10 p.m.

Members of his family said that he arrived home about 4:30 p.m. and had been working in the yard at his home 522 Oakwood Ave., when he suffered a chest pain and went to the porch where he sat down for a few minutes and then entered the house and laid down on the bed.

His wife, who is a nurses' aide summoned an ambulance and accompanied him in the ambulance to the hospital, but upon arrival there he had succumbed.

Widely acquainted in the Alton area as an automobile salesman, Bull had worked for Carter Bros. for several years, and when that firm was acquired by Chuck Diering he remained there in the employ of the Diering firm.

Several years ago, he had suffered from a spinal ailment and had undergone surgery three times within a period of 18 months for correction of the ailment, but he was not known to have suffered any previous heart attacks.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. Asher Bull of Fieldon, former residents of Alton, he was born at Hardin, Aug. 20, 1915. He attended the Alton schools and during World War II was in military service.

He was a member of First Church of God in Alton, and belonged to Alton Aerie 254 of the Eagles, and to the Black hawk Club.

His wife, the former Miss Maudie McAdams, to whom he was married July 6, 1935, at Grafton, survives him. He also leaves a daughter, Sandra Kay 16, a student in Alton High School, and Robert Rodney, 11; two brothers, Floyd of Hardin, and Edward of Greenfield; three sisters. Mrs. Gus Orban of Brighton, and Mrs. Ralph Bauser and Mrs. Juitte Gill of Alton, and his parents.

The body is at Gent Chapel where rites will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Cleo ? pastor of First Church of God. Friends may call at the chapel after 7 p.m. today.

Burial will be in Valhaila Cemetery.
