AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS MR. P.J. BARKSDALE DIED

Mr. Perry Jefferson Barksdale, husband of Mrs. Georgia Crouch Barksdale, died at the residence, 934 Ellis Street, yesterday morning at 8:45 o'clock, after a lingering illness of ten weeks. The funeral services will be held from St. John's Church this morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. S.P. Wiggins, pastor of the church, officiating.
Mr. Barksdale was a resident of Augusta for the past eighteen years, coming here from McDuffie County, Georgia. Before death claimed him he was engaged in the real estate business in this city and was very well known in a social and business way. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Georgia Crouch Barksdale; one daughter, Sarah Jane Barksdale; three brothers, Messrs. J.L. and W.L. Barksdale of Augusta, and J.T. Barksdale of Wrens, Ga. The interment will take place in the City Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been requested to act as pallbearers: Messrs. James R. League, J.E. Brown, E.B. Satcher, John Hefner, C.S. Cates and J.H. Milligan.

Statesboro, Ga., Oct. 23. - Mayor S.J. Crouch received a message this afternoon announcing the death of Jeff Barksdale in Augusta and Mayor and Mrs. Crouch left in their automobile this afternoon for that city. Mr. Barksdale married Miss Georgia Crouch, a niece of Mayor Crouch, less that two years ago. One child survives. Mrs. Barksdale has many friends in Statesboro who will regret to learn of her misfortune.
