Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, 1185 Route 35 N., East Dubuque. Burial will be in East Dubuque Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30 to 8 p.m. today and after 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Sproule worked as a perishable tool inspector at John Deere Du-buque Works, retiring in October 1982 after 35-years of service.
He was born on March 8, 1922, in Galena, son of Cyrus and Della (Byrne) Sproule. He married Delores R. Anker in November 1946, in Chicago; she died on Nov. 27, 1993.
He was a veteran of the Navy serving during World War II. He was a member of United Automobile Workers Local 94 and a charter member of the Lacoma Golf Course, East Dubuque. He enjoyed a good card game, especially euchre and pinochle.
Surviving are two daughters, Lynn (Paul) Blosch, of Peosta, Iowa, and Kimberly Sproule, of Dubuque; three grandchildren, Douglas, Melissa and Sarah; two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Steven; two brothers, Donald (Norma) Sproule, of Tucson, Ariz., and Earl (Helen) Sproule, of Hanover; a sister, Carol Bussan, of Galena; three sisters-in-law, Vesta Sproule and Mildred Sproule, both of Galena, and Violet Stewart, of East Dubuque; and a brother-in-law, Vale Allen, of Galena.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; and seven brothers and sisters, Kate Leary, Elaine Hasken, Helene Allen, Dorothy Childs, and Cy, Kenneth and Edwin Sproule.
A Francis S. "Babe" Sproule Memorial Fund has been established.
