Dean was one of seven children. He joined the Dallas Fire Department in 1970 and rose to the rank of Captain before his retirement in 2005.
He was a "character" to say the least. He enjoyed his family, Renaissance festivals, the outdoors and the brotherhood of the fire department.
Survived by his two daughters and their mother; two sisters, two brothers and numerous other relatives.
