Bertha Strecker Keil Nuss, daughter of David & Katherine (Sprier) Strecker, was born March 24, 1893, at Milberger, Kansas, Her death occurred on January 28, 1987, in the Russell Kare Center, after several years of failing health. She was 93 years, 10 months and 4 days.
On October 5, 1913, she was united in marriage to Benjamin Keil at Milberger, KS. This union was blessed with 10 children; Lucile, Elsie, Clarence, Thelma, Claranetta, Fern, Alean, Leland, Glenn and Wayne, who died as an infant.
The family made their home in the Milberger area, where Bertha raised their children. She occupied her time with the many and varied activities of a housewife, homemaker and mother. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and maintained a keen interest in her church. Her husband Benjamin died on November 20, 1954, and she continued to live on the farm.
On March 24, 1961, she married Alexander Nuss at Jetmore, KS and moved to Dodge City. Alexander died on March 1, 1973, and in the fall of that year, Bertha returned to Russell County & made her home at Parkside Manor.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, one son Wayne, a stepson Gerhardt Nuss, brother George Strecker, sister Carrie, two half-brothers Henry & Edwin Strecker and two half-sisters, Pauline Haun & Ida Keil.
