Lawyer; member of New Jersey state house of assembly from Gloucester County, 1902-05; Speaker of the New Jersey State House of Assembly, 1904-05; member of New Jersey state senate from Gloucester County, 1906-08; delegate to Republican National Convention from New Jersey, 1912; Presidential Elector for New Jersey, 1928; U.S. District Judge for New Jersey, 1929-44; died in office 1944. Presbyterian. Member, Grange; Freemasons; Odd Fellows; Moose; Foresters; Redmen. Died, in Price Memorial Hospital, Camden, Camden County, N.J., January 21, 1944 (age 68 years, 194 days). Interment at Wenonah Cemetery.
