Howell Gowran Evans, 54, of San Antonio, Tex., died Sunday morning, June 14, at San Antonio.
Graveside funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Pioneers Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers, Harry C. Gowran, D.D., of Detroit, Mich., will officiate and burial will be in Pioneers Rest Cemetery.
Mr. Evans was born June 2, 1927, at Two Rivers, son of the late Howell G. Evans and Mrs. Dorothy Gowran Evans. He attended Two Rivers Public Schools and was graduated from Culver Military Academy and Brown University of Providence, R.I. Mr. Evans served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict and obtained the rank of captain. He married Margaret Culver in 1954 at Manitowoc. He had been involved with real estate in Houston and San Antonio and was currently employed with San Antonio HUD Office. Mr. Evans was a 32nd Degree Mason, was a hunting, fishing and sailing enthusiast, and was past commodore of Woodlawn Lake Yacht Club in San Antonio and the Canyon Lake Yacht Club.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret, two sons, Mark Culver Evans in graduate school in Oceanside, Calif., and First Lieutenant Jessie Gowran Evans with the Marine Corps in Oceanside; his mother, Mrs. Howell G. Evans of McAllen, Tex.; and a sister, Mrs. Polly Evans Oppenheim of Milwaukee.
Memorials may be made to the Y.M.C.A. or Camp Manitowish. Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, is in charge of local arrangements.
