Mark LaFond, 52, of Edgewood place, Two Rivers, office manager of the Hamilton Manufacturing company for several years, died early today at the Two Rivers Municipal hospital, after being stricken with a heart attack less than two hours earlier at the home of friends.

Mr. LaFond, with his wife and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Klabunde, had been spending the evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wolf, of 1717 29th street, Two Rivers. After a midnight lunch Mr. LaFond was suddenly stricken ill, and was moved to the hospital in an ambulance.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Catholic church, Two Rivers, with burial in Holy Cross cemetery there.

He was born in Two Rivers in 1897, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michell LaFond. He was graduated from the Two Rivers high school in 1915 and in his school years was a member of the school's basketball team. After his graduation he worked for three years at the Hamilton company office after which he enlisted in the navy, serving for about a year in World War I. Returning to Two Rivers after the war he was employed by the Oeflein Construction company in the erection of a warehouse for the Hamilton firm. He later became a foreman in the shipping room of the Hamilton plant. In December, 1922, he left for Algoma where he was office manager of the Algoma Products company, remaining with the firm for 19 years. In 1941 Mr. LaFond returned to Two Rivers, taking a position in the purchasing department of the Hamilton company. With the resignation of Frank M. Bouda in 1945, Mr. LaFond was appointed office manager of the firm, which post he had held up to his death.

Mr. LaFond married Edna Perlewitz of Algoma in that city in 1930, who survives with two daughters, Virginia and Joan, and a son, James, all at home. He also leaves a sister, Miss Nellie LaFond, and four brothers, Conrad, Urban, John and Claude, all of Two Rivers. A sister, Mrs. Anton Vaclavik of Two Rivers, preceded him in death four years ago.

Mr. LaFond was affiliated with the Holy Name society of St. Luke church, the Knights of Columbus, the Robert E. Burns post 165, American Legion, and the Hamilton Foremen's club.

Friends may call at the Klein and Stangel, Inc., funeral home, Two Rivers, after 7 p.m. Tuesday, where the rosary will be recited at 7:45 Wednesday evening.
