Elbert S. Ferrell, 73, of Carrollton, died Friday in the Togler Nursing Home in Dover where he had been a patient the last eight years. Mr. Ferrell was born in Annapolis and had lived in Carrollton the last 39 years. With his father, the late J. W. Ferrell, he founded Ferrell's Grocery, now owned and operated by his daughter, Mrs. Robert E. Long. For many years he was a director of First National Bank and played professional baseball in minor 3-1 league. He was a member of Carrollton Reformed Church.
In addition to his daughter, he is survived by two sons, Elbert W. of South Bend, Indiana, and Theodore of Dennison; two other daughters, Mrs. Sheldon Poplin of Carrollton and Mrs. Willard Carter of East Springfield; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Pretty and Mrs. Anna Swan of Carrollton, and 10 grandchildren. Services were Monday at the Sweeney Funeral Home in Carrollton. Rev. J. G. Sutz officiated. burial was in West View Cemetery.
