CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - H. Grant Auman Jr., 79, of 1493 Crottlestown Road, died Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at Manorcare Health Services in Chambersburg.

Born Aug. 5, 1919, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Harvey Grant and Etta Mae Linninger Auman.

He was a 1938 graduate of Chambersburg High School.

He was a machine operator for T.B. Woods Sons Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1983. He formerly co-owned Auman & Leather Plumbing and Heating in Chambersburg.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg.

He was a member of Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599; Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46, and American Association of Retired Persons.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Gordon Auman, whom he married June 22, 1940; one son, Sidney Grant Auman of Chambersburg; two grandsons, Stephen Grant Auman of Newburg, Pa., and Paul Eugene Auman of Chambersburg; one great-granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Stenger Hill Cemetery in Fort Loudon, Pa. The Rev. Donald C. Nolder will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
