Philander Blakeslee Cole was the son of James Cole and Jerusha Blakeslee. James and Jerusha were born in New York and married in 1805, later moving to Ohio in 1809. The said James Blakeslee was born in May of 1763 in New York and served as a private for nine months serving under various officers including David Blakeslee who made have been the father of James. Edward stated that this information was obtained from pension records and a written statement made by his father Philander in 1886.
