The marriage of Mr. Sylvester Oaks of Virgil to Miss Alice McCarthy of this village, was solemnized at the parochial residence last Thursday evening. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father O'Shea of Syracuse and McMahon of Auburn. A wedding supper was served at the residence of Mrs. E. L. Wlnslow, 180 South Main Street, Mr. and Mrs. Oaks will reside at Virgil.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Alice Oaks, who died on Friday of pneumonia, will be held at the house, 25 Park St., Monday morning at 8:4 5 o'clock, and from St. Mary's church at 9:30 o'clock. Burial wilt be made in St. Mary's cemetery. Mrs. Oaks leaves to mourn her loss four sisters who are: Mrs. Edward Winslow of Blngbamton, Mrs. M. W. Madden of 26 Park St., Cortland; Mrs. Anna Robinson of Rochester; Mrs. P. C. Sherwood, Detroit, Mich.; and one brother, James McCarthy, also of Detroit.

VIRGIL - The sad news of the death of Mrs. Alice Oaks came as a shock to her many friends here Friday, as she had only been ill with pneumonia since Wednesday, and the end came Friday at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Oaks was, the widow of the late Sylvester Oaks and had spent most of her life in this place, where she is so well known. At the time of her death she was living in the house with ber sister Ella at 26 Park St., Cortland. The funeral was held at 8:30 o'clock Monday morning from the house and 9 o'clock from St. Mary's Church. She leaves three sisters and one brother, beside several nieces and nephews.
