Robert C. Christiansen, age 93, of 1617 Ahrens Street, Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Maritime Gardens Assisted Living in Manitowoc.

Robert was born on October 3, 1920 in Manitowoc. He was the son of the late Harold C. and Elizabeth M. Witt Christiansen. Bob attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1938. He was employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company/Manitowoc Company for 42 years from where he then retired. On May 15, 1943 he married Jeanette Rusch and celebrated their 71st anniversary in 2014. Bob was a member of the Lakeshore United Methodist Church attending the Reed Avenue location. He was the oldest living member of their church.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years: Jean; one sister: Betty Kornely, Manitowoc, Wi; eight nieces: Virginia (Douglas) Mitchell, Santa Barbara, CA; Laura Pekar, Columbus, IN; Karen (Jeffrey) Zriny, Wausau, WI; Dr. Sara (Dr. Thomas Cusack) Rusch, Peoria, IL; Dr. Nancy J. Rusch, Little Rock, AR;

Sandra Rusch, Peoria, IL; Lynn (Jim) Ries, Milwaukee, WI; Marcia (Jack) Christiansen, Manitowoc, WI; 23 great nieces and nephews along with 22 great great nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Elizabeth Chrsitiansen; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Arnold and Lydia Rusch; one niece: Barbara Vensko; three sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law.

Private family graveside services will be held on Wednesday afternoon, June 18, 2014 at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, with Rev. James Barnes officiating. A private memorial service for the family will be held at Saturday afternoon, July 5, 2015 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Dunham officiating. Following the memorial services there will be a social and light luncheon at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
