Asher,Gordon,Stokes died Dec.5,1928 at Decatur,age 67 y, 9 m, 11 d, son of Green and Pollyanna,born 24,february,1861 in White Co.Married Kate Erkman of Carmi in 1882. Four children,two sons and two daughters. One son died in infancy and other son at a later age. Daughters are Mrs.Lulu Yates,Mrs.Ella Baldwin,both of Decatur.Also leaves three grandchildren,four great grandchildren and two brothers,William, of Indianapolis and Wesley of near crossville. He lived in White Co.until three years ago when he moved to Decatur. Funeral and burial Dec. 7 at Stokes chapel.

Asher died at his home on route 2, West Harrison avenue. His death was caused by a complication of diseases. He had lived here the last three years.
He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Lulu Yates and Mrs.Ella Baldwin, both of Decatur and two brothers, Ryle Stokes of Indianapolis and Wesley Stokes of Crossville.
