Glen was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. White. His family moved to Hanover, Wisconsin and then to Beloit, Wisconsin while he was a child. Glen joined the Wisconsin National Guard's 32nd Division Tank Company when he finished high school. His unit was later federalized into Company A, 192nd Tank Battalion. He and the rest of his unit were held as prisoners of war in the Philippine Islands during WWII. He was one of the 65 men from Janesville in this unit who died as POW's. His family requested his remains be returned home after the war.
