Grandpa Roland (he was the son of Harper Phillips and Rebecca Drake Phillips) married Maude Farley (she was the daughter of Lewis Garfield Farley and Polly Stump) in 1896...The newlyweds opened a mercantile store, which Maude operated while Roland taught school...They had 7 children, Grayson in 1897, Clyde in 1899, Gladys in 1906, Rebecca in 1908 (died in 1910), Edgar in 1912, Marie in 1914, Woodrow in 1916 and after Uncle Woodrow, Grandma Maude had thought she and Grandpa Roland had completed their "little" family...But, in 1920 at the ages of 41(her) and 47 (him), they were blessed with twin boys, my Grandpa, Roland Turner Jr. and his "baby" brother George, 9 children all together with 8 reaching adulthood and marrying...Roland Sr. continued to teach, retiring after 45 years as an educator and Grandma Maude continued to work the store, while raising the children and as kids grew and married, they were given parcels of their parents property on which to build their homes (Grandma & Grandpa had a large amount of property) so that they (the family) were surrounded by the ones they loved...Grandpa Roland died 4 months short of his 71st birthday...Cause of death: Heart attack
