ANDERSON, IN-William G. "Bill" Wood Sr., 69, has gone to eternal rest with his Heavenly Father on June 17, 2014 from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness.
Bill was born on February 20, 1945 in Marion, Indiana to Everett and Marion (Ott) Wood. He was a graduate of Mississenawa High School-Class of 1964. He retired from Delco-Remy, formerly of Anderson in 1994 after 30 years of employment. He attended the Florida Station Church of God. Bill was a former member of the Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge-#77 and Mount Moriah Order of the Eastern Star. He had served as a youth advisor to the Order of DeMolay. He was also a former member of the Scottish Rite-Valley of Indianapolis. Bill enjoyed photography as a hobby. He was an avid motorcyclist and member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, He was a member and Past President of the Indiana State Metropolitan Car Chapter. Bill has played Santa and brought Christmas joy to hundreds since 2000. He founded a monthly Madison County Santa Club and was a member AORBS, the American Order of Real Bearded Santas. He taught woodcarving and was a member of the Raintree Woodcarver's Assocation. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and participated in shooting competitions. Bill's favorite hobby though was "Passing out smiles"

Services honoring Bill's life will take place at 1 pm on Friday, June 20, 2014 in the Florida Station Church of God, 10345 West 375 North, Anderson. Pastor Jerry Hilligoss will officiate. Interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Florida Station Church of God on Thursday from 4 pm to 7pm or after 12 Noon on Friday prior to the service.
