James Edward Daws of Rush Branch Road, Somerset, Kentucky died at the age of 62 after an illness of eight months.

He was a Pulaski County merchant and a farmer. He was a member of the Naomi Church of the Nazarene.

He was survived by his wife, Versie (Burton) Daws (married 12/23/1916); his children, Mrs. Anna Daulton of Naomi, Mrs. Leva Sams of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Irene Hughes of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Zennie Hines of Mt. Zion, Emery Daws of Somerset, and Akery Daws of Dayton, Ohio; his sisters, Mrs. Lillie Scrimager of Talbot, Indiana, and Mrs. Ella Sumpter of Naomi; and his brother, Wolford Daws of Naomi.

He was preceded in death by his parents Shelvy Daws and Martha (Norfleet) Daws.

Funeral services were held at the Naomi Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Oscar Lobb and John Hodge officiating.
