Mrs. Elizabeth Gill Agnew, formerly of Winamac, passed away Monday evening at Frankfort, at the home of her daughter Mrs. George Russell, following an illness of six weeks from diabetes and a complication of ailments. On Saturday noon, after having been unconscious for some time, she rallied and called her children and member of her family to her bedside. She realized her condition and bid then each farewell, passing a short time later into a sleep from which she did not arouse. the end came two days later. the remains were brought to Winamac Tuesday afternoon and taken to the home of her niece, Mrs. Clyde E. Reynolds. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. A. S. Warriner of Clinton, who was pastor of the Winamac church at the time when Mrs. Agnew and her family were residents of this city. Interment was in the Winamac Cemetery. Mrs. Agnew, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Gill, was born at Star City, a daughter of Henry and Sarah Gill, and would have been seventy-two years old on April 19. She was united in marriage to John M. Agnew on November 25, 1873, at Winamac, where they took up their residence. Eleven children were born to them, eight of whom grew to manhood and womanhood. Mr. Agnew passed away about thirty-five years ago and the son John M. Agnew made the supreme sacrifice while serving in the army in 1918. The surviving children are Guy F. of Clinton, Ind., Thomas M. of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Georgia Rector of Culver, Joseph B., Robert W., and Mrs. Nell Russell of Frankfort, and Dan W. of Salem, Oregon. She is also survived by one brother, Andrew Gill of Winamac. who lies critically ill at his home from Bright's disease, and a sister, Mrs. Mollie Bridegroom of Modesto, Calif. There are twenty grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
