Mrs. Mary A. Armstrong Menadier, R.N., 92, of Pompton Plains, died on Sunday, June 8, 2014. She was the mother of Anne Casmano of this city.

Born and raised in Jersey City, Mrs. Menadier moved to Passaic in 1954 and lived there for 50 years before moving to Pompton Plains.

She was a registered nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, Passaic, and later worked for the Social Security Administration.


A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

She attended Seton Hall University after the war, married Eugene F. Menadier in 1949, and started a family. Mary worked as a RN at St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic N.J. while raising their 10 children. After retiring from the Social Security Administration she attended Felician College in Lodi and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1989 with a degree in Religious Studies. She then led the Lazarus Ministry at St. Nicholas R.C. Church in Passaic for many years.



She was a parishioner of St. Nicholas R.C. Church, Passaic, for many years, where she was a member of the choir, served as a lector and trustee, and led the Lazarus Ministry. And, she was a member of the Older is Better group at Felician College in Lodi.

Mrs. Menadier also is survived by her other children, Frank Menadier of Carolina Shores, N.C., Cecilia Frey of Vancouver, Wash., Mabel Menadier of East Lansing, Mich., Lucy English of Sarasota, Fla., Blanche Menadier of Syndey, Australia, Madonna Renggli of Glen Spey, N.Y., and James Menadier of Grover, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene; her son, Peter; her daughter, Margaret; her sister, Cecelia Swezeny; and her brothers, Leon Armstrong and Edward Armstrong.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene F. Menadier in 1977; two children; Peter Menadier in 1984 and Margaret Menadier in 1973; and her siblings, Cecelia Swezeny, Leon Armstrong and Edward Armstrong.





Visitation will be at the Chapel at Cedar Crest Village, Cedar Crest Drive, Pompton Plains on Tuesday from 10 to 11 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 AM. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi. Please omit flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Felician College, 262 South Main Street, Lodi, NJ 07644. Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave., Clifton is in charge of arrangements.
